The story behind Clarke & Willow

Hi, I'm Sam.

Clarke & Willow began with a simple idea — I wanted to create something beautiful with my hands.

After years spent working, raising a family and doing all the things life asks of me, I reached a stage where I wanted to slow things down a little, learn something new and build something that was genuinely mine.

I've always loved journals, stationery, travel and the little things we keep because they remind us of a particular place or moment. Then I discovered leathercraft.

Clarke is my surname, and Willow represents strength, resilience, flexibility and growth. Each piece is cut, finished and assembled by hand in small batches. The leather has its own grain, markings and character, so no two pieces are exactly alike.

The Leather Behind the Journal

Every Clarke & Willow journal begins with carefully selected leather from New Zealand, processed in Brisbane by a local Australian family business.

Each piece is then cut, shaped, finished and assembled by hand in my Queensland workshop. From the beautifully burnished edges to the final finishing touches, every journal is made with care, patience and attention to detail.

No two Clarke & Willow leather journal covers will ever be exactly alike. Genuine leather carries its own character, including natural markings and variations in grain, colour and texture.

Returns & Refunds Policy

At Clarke & Willow, each leather journal is handcrafted with care. I want you to feel confident ordering from my small Queensland business.

Natural leather variations

Genuine leather has its own unique character. Variations in grain, colour, texture and natural markings are expected and are not, by themselves, defects. No two covers will look exactly alike. This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty or not as described.

Change of mind

I do not offer returns or exchanges for change of mind, incorrect selection or personal preference. This does not limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Faulty, damaged or incorrectly described items

If your journal arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, please email info@samclarke.org. Include your order details and, if possible, photographs so I can help. Depending on the circumstances and Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. For a major failure, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement.

Return postage

Where goods fail to meet a consumer guarantee, I will cover reasonable return postage costs as required by Australian Consumer Law. Please contact me first so I can arrange the next steps.

Your consumer rights

Goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts those rights.
